In anticipation of the Supreme Court judgment scheduled for Tuesday, January 16, 2024, the Advocate Women for Justice (AWJ), a women’s group in Nasarawa State, has earnestly appealed to the judges for an impartial decision in the ongoing governorship dispute.

Mrs. Hanatu John, addressing journalists on Monday at the party Secretariat on Jos Road, emphasized the paramount importance of resisting external pressures. She urged the judges, stating, “We appeal to judges not to succumb to pressure from anybody because doing so will jeopardize the name and reputation you have built for yourselves over the years.”

The group applauded the recent courageous judgments in Kano and Plateau states, expressing optimism for a similarly principled decision in Nasarawa State.

Jemilatu Hussaini underscored the judiciary’s role as the last hope for the common man, urging the court to consider popular votes and review BVAS records in areas where rigging allegations were raised during the March 18 election.

Expressing confidence in the prevailing of justice, Charity Samuel stated, “I trust that the judges will ensure justice for the people of Nasarawa State so that peace, unity, and development can return to the state.”

The dispute centers around Mr. David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging the victory of Gov. Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the March 18 governorship election. The women’s group continues its peaceful protests, advocating for a fair and just resolution.
