Gospel singer Chidinma Ekile has revealed a life-threatening spiritual encounter during a 40-day fasting and prayer retreat on a mountain, an experience she described as both terrifying and transformative.

Chidinma explained that after returning from the United States, she felt compelled to go into seclusion—sleeping outdoors, praying, worshipping, and seeking divine clarity. Midway through the retreat, she was led by a dark voice to the edge of a cliff at night. Overwhelmed, she was about to obey when an invisible barricade inexplicably stopped her. She credits this intervention to God’s mercy and spiritual protection.

She described this period as a kind of spiritual “theatre” where God performed surgery on her soul—breaking her down and rebuilding her from within. She said this ordeal transformed her outlook; material possessions no longer held value, and she discovered a profound peace that could not be bought.
