NLC Demands Immediate Reversal of Fuel Price Hike by NNPC

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called for an immediate rollback of the recent increase in petrol prices across the country.

In a statement posted on its X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday night, the NLC demanded, “We demand the immediate reversal of the latest increase in the pump price of PMS across the country.”

Earlier that day, the union expressed disappointment in President Bola Tinubu after the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) raised the official fuel price from N617 to N897 per litre.

NLC President Joe Ajaero stated that the union had accepted the N70,000 minimum wage with the understanding that there would be no further hikes in fuel prices.

Ajaero also warned that in the coming days, the NLC’s relevant bodies would convene to decide on the next course of action, which will be announced to the public.
