A Nigerian content creator, Segun Olaoluwa, has opened up about his experience after he was arrested and detained for falsely alleging that actress Dayo Amusa is HIV positive. The allegation went viral following a video he posted naming her among several actors purportedly living with HIV. Amusa swiftly issued a denial, stating she is HIV negative, and clarified that she shared a test result in 2019 purely for educational purposes.

Segun described his time in detention as “the worst experience of my life,” second only to the passing of his mother. He has since apologised to Amusa, removed the video across social media platforms, and asked for forgiveness. Amusa responded by forgiving him, withdrawing her petition with the police against him, saying: “To err is human, to forgive is divine.”
