Former Big Brother Naija star Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has hinted at a possible political career, explaining that she may one day step into public service to drive meaningful change in Nigeria.
During a candid conversation reported by Punch, she emphasized that while she isn’t actively seeking political office now:
“Yes, I do [intend to go into politics] … in the long run, it is something that might happen.”
Tacha stressed that to make systemic changes, one must be within the structures of government. She passionately stated:
“We cannot change the country if we don’t love it. If one’s family is staying abroad … even if everywhere in the country is burning, one would not care.”
Although she hasn’t named a specific office she would seek, she made clear her political plans are in progress:
“I’ll have to make it 70% done before I can talk about it, because it does not make sense … talking about the government without being involved.”
• Civic Engagement to Public Service
Long before political ambitions surfaced, Tacha actively participated in civic movements:
• In 2022, she led voter awareness campaigns in Rivers State, helping locals register for Permanent Voter Cards and urging them to participate in the democratic process.
• Ahead of the 2023 elections, she gave out cash incentives to Nigerians holding PVCs while encouraging others to obtain one and use their vote wisely.
