Nollywood actress-filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has opened up about her ability to maintain a relatively drama-free public profile in an industry often marked by controversies.

In a recent interview with Vanguard Allure, she addressed how she’s navigated the highs and lows of Nollywood by managing potential scandals:

“Some of the things that might have disastrously affected a lot of other people, I have been able to manage well to the point where it didn’t look like a scandal.”

Kadiri credits much of her calm under pressure to a single practice: forgiveness.

“Nollywood is a place where close friends constantly betray you… I told myself I wasn’t going to let myself carry all the unhealthy burdens that a lot of people are letting themselves carry. If you offend me, I say it… I forgive… I just have to let it go for my sake.”

In her view, articulating discomfort and then releasing grievances is far healthier than erupting in unresolved tension—essentially diffusing issues before they balloon into drama.
