President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to stabilizing the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and promoting peace across Africa.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2024 African Military Games in Abuja, Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, emphasized his administration’s determination to tackle security challenges and violent crimes within Nigeria.
As the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, Tinubu underscored his vision to enhance regional stability and prosperity. He highlighted the importance of fostering camaraderie among African troops through stronger inter-country ties.
“To achieve this vision, I prioritize strengthening relationships across African nations to promote a profound sense of camaraderie among our troops,” Tinubu stated.
Reflecting on the significance of the military games, Tinubu noted the event’s role in fostering unity among African militaries. He praised the games for reviving a spirit of cooperation last seen two decades ago.
He also stressed the need for physically and mentally fit armed forces to adapt to the challenges of an evolving and complex global environment.
“The Armed Forces must ensure their personnel remain physically, mentally, and emotionally fit to meet the demands of today’s volatile and uncertain world,” Tinubu remarked.
The African Military Games, in its second edition, serves as a platform to strengthen friendships and enhance collaboration among militaries across the continent.
