The Concerned Scholars for Peace and Development (CSPD) have expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed efforts to combat banditry in northern Nigeria. This follows a recent visit by military leaders to Sokoto State, where they vowed to address the region’s security issues.

In a statement on Tuesday, CSPD President Dr. Zaharadeen Mohammed Kabir cautioned saboteurs and collaborators against undermining the military’s operations, specifically calling out Islamic cleric Mallam Bello Asada for falsely accusing the government of supporting bandits. Kabir described the claims as politically motivated.

He urged the Federal Government to remain vigilant against individuals attempting to discredit or distract state efforts, adding that some clerics may be involved with bandits. Kabir also called for an investigation into Asada, suggesting he may have deeper ties to the banditry problem.

The CSPD encouraged President Tinubu to remain focused and continue the fight until the bandits are fully defeated.
