Unknown gunmen abducted Mrs. Elizabeth Uruakpa, a 66-year-old Assistant Chief Nursing Officer at Babcock University Teaching Hospital, on Thursday evening in Ilisan Remo, Ogun State. The incident took place around 7 pm as Uruakpa was returning from an evening church service.

The assailants ambushed her at the entrance of her home near the new Ilisan market. Witnesses reported that the gunmen forcibly removed her from her vehicle and took her away in a red Toyota car, creating widespread panic in the neighborhood. Residents and local businesses quickly shut their doors in response to the unfolding crisis.

A local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, described the scene: “The woman was coming back from church when the gunmen abducted her. She’s a senior nursing staff at Babcock University Teaching Hospital and a member of the Winners’ Chapel. They dragged her out of her car and sped off in their vehicle. It was a shocking and frightening experience for everyone in the area.”

Dr. Joshua Suleiman, Babcock University’s Director of Communication and Marketing, confirmed the abduction and mentioned that the university is actively seeking further information. “I heard about the incident last night. While it is noted on one of the university’s platforms, we are working on gathering comprehensive details. We will provide updates as soon as we have more information,” Suleiman said.
