Chidimma Adetshina, who has both Nigerian and Mozambican heritage but was born and raised in South Africa, will be competing in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant. Her participation follows a notable shift from her previous involvement in the Miss South Africa contest.

Initially, Chidimma Onwe Adetshina faced criticism on social media regarding her South African identity due to her name. Subsequently, she withdrew from the Miss South Africa pageant amid allegations of fraud and identity theft involving her mother by the South African Home Office. Recently, Mia le Roux, a deaf South African of Caucasian descent, was crowned the new Miss South Africa.

Now, Chidimma has been invited by the Silverbird Group, the organizers of the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, to participate. She accepted the invitation and shared her excitement in a video posted on social media with Ben Bruce Murray, the head of Silverbird Group.

In her video, Chidimma expressed her gratitude: “I want to begin by thanking everyone for their incredible love and support. I have received an invitation from the Silverbird Group, the organizers of Miss Universe Nigeria. I am thrilled to announce that I will be competing in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant. I fully understand the expectations and responsibilities that come with this opportunity and am eager to embark on this journey. I look forward to participating in what is considered the most prestigious pageant in Africa.”
