In a shocking incident, the traditional ruler of Itama in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, His Royal Highness Shagari Ebije’ego Job, was reportedly assassinated at his residence.

According to a resident, Adukwu Ajibili, who spoke to Daily Trust, unidentified gunmen stormed the town and opened fire at the chief’s home. The attack, which occurred around 9 pm on Monday, has plunged the town into chaos, with many residents fleeing to nearby villages in fear.

Ajibili described the terrifying scene, saying, “The attackers, armed and in numbers, drove towards the traditional chief’s residence. Moments later, gunshots erupted, causing people to scatter in panic.”

He continued, “After the gunmen had left, some of us ventured out and discovered that His Royal Highness had been killed in the attack.”

As of the time of this report, the Kogi State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Williams Aya, had not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.
