Nationwide Protest: APC Condemns Attack on Zamfara Secretariat

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly condemned the attack on its state secretariat by miscreants involved in the nationwide hunger protest. The incident took place on Monday, as stated by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau, in a press release made available to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital.

Gusau reminded that the APC had earlier cautioned the PDP-led state government against allowing its thugs to vent their frustrations on APC members and leaders. This warning came after the attack on Senator Sahabi Ya’u’s residence in Kaura Namoda and an attempt to set fire to the residence of the immediate past governor and now minister, Matawalle, in Gusau.

The APC had urged both the state government and security agencies to protect people’s lives and property. Despite these warnings, Gusau noted that the hoodlums went on a rampage, breaking into the APC Secretariat along Sokoto Bye Pass Road in Gusau. They destroyed the facility, including windows and doors, and stole furniture, equipment, and building materials stored in the office.

The attackers also looted the mini secretariat behind the main office, taking all the furniture, computers, refrigerators, and other valuables.

“This action is unacceptable and condemnable,” Gusau stated. “We are calling on the security agencies to immediately apprehend and bring the perpetrators of this dastardly act to book.”

He further emphasized that while APC members and supporters have remained peaceful and law-abiding, it should not be mistaken for weakness.
