The Kano police have arrested 269 suspects for looting and destruction during the #EndBadGovernance protests. The initially peaceful demonstration in Kano escalated into violence, prompting a strong response from security forces.

According to a Facebook update from the Kano police command, the unrest began around 10:00 am when groups of individuals, disguised as protesters, attacked a supermarket in the Nassarawa Quarters and other establishments in Kano State.

The police reported that these actions disturbed public peace and safety, leading to immediate intervention. The suspects were arrested for their involvement in looting, destruction, and causing chaos under the pretense of the nationwide protest.

The disturbances included arson at the NCC office and the Audu Bako secretariat near the Government House Kano, where multiple vehicles were set ablaze. The fire has since been controlled due to prompt action by the authorities.

Additionally, the police recovered an AK-47 rifle near the Kano High Court and seized a substantial amount of stolen goods from the suspects. In response to the unrest, Kano Governor Abba Yusuf has imposed a 24-hour curfew to protect residents and restore order.
